New Japan Airlines Business Class 777-200ER or Sky Suite 3 as they call it – looks extremely nice

I was looking at Japan Airlines business class award space from Tokyo to Singapore when I stumbled across the new product. I was actually looking at avail with a 767 and wondered if they offered a similar product as the 777-300ER – they don’t – when I came upon the new site for the 777-200ER. I have to say it look very nice. It’s interesting that they keep innovating products as most reviews I’ve read of the 777-300ER sky suite are positive, but hey we have something else to enjoy.

Earlier this year Japan Airlines announced that they would release a new business class and start servicing the following routes.

  • Haneda to Bangkok route started on June 18th, 2016
  • Haneda to Singapore in August of 2016.
  • There are plans to introduce on the Hawaii to Japan route at some point too

The new product features fully lie-flat reverse herringbone seats in a 1-2-1 configuration that reminds me a lot of Cathay and American’s 777-300ER. Both of which I’ve flown and thought were excellent products.

The 17in IFE looks LEGIT!

Stumbling across this new product actually makes me reconsider the itinerary I was compiling. I’d kind of rather fly during the times this product is offered compared to the 767 and it appears to be a much nicer product to boot.

American has a very competitive award chart intra-Asia

Asia 2 award chart

As you can see above you can traverse Tokyo to Singapore for 30k AA in business.

Alaska has an even better sweet spot

22,500 in business. Alaska was selling miles earlier with a 50% bonus effectively making points $0.02. That means you could buy this flight to book with points for $450.  Ridics deal especially as Alaska has more liberal routing rules than that of Japan Airlines. They haven’t released their chart for JAL yet, but I’m it’s similar to that below.
