Hyatt Regency JFK Resorts World

The Hyatt Regency JFK Resorts World opened in the fall of 2021 and it piqued my interest since I’m often positioning myself to airports where business or first class award space is available, and often that is JFK.  I’ve stayed a few times at the TWA hotel which is super convenient and has very cool throwback vibes.  It’s had a few devaluations, principally the rooftop pool has a fee even for guests, so I’ve been interested in finding another option. I have to say… I think this is a great hotel and its only real drawback is it isn’t actually at the airport. It’s a 10 minute uber ride away.   Let’s take a look at this Hyatt property.

Booking

I used 12k World of Hyatt points that I transferred from my Bilt Rewards account. This was a very good value since rates were over $200 without taxes for the night.

Location

Getting to the hotel is one of the complaints I have. You could take a free shuttle; however, you need to get to the Aqueduct stop on the A train… there isn’t a shuttle from the airport itself. I opted for an uber that cost me about $15.

Check In

The hotel is immediately to the left if you’re entering the complex main entrance. Everything is new, but remarkably quiet on this December day. I was checked in quickly and told about my Globalist benefits, access to the club, and if I needed 4pm late check out.

One nice thing is the hotel has a Starbucks in the Grab n Go which is on your right as you’re entering the hotel. The prices are sky high though so watch out

The Room

I was upgraded to a fantastic One Bedroom King Suite that featured floor to ceiling windows and two full bathrooms. It was a rainy day in NYC, but the suite was massive and flooded with light. Ample space to hang out and clearly is setup to have people stay in the living room that may want full bathroom facilities.

The main bathroom

One thing I really appreciated was the individual amenities. I know the move towards shareable shower products is all the jazz these days, but I like having my own and even taking them home to put in a guest bath for visitors or donate to a local shelter.

One thing that was cool was down the hall from the rooms was the combo ice machine, sodas, and snacks

Hotel Gym

The hotel has a very nice sized gym with plenty of equipment to get a good work out in…which I made 0 use of lol.

The Regency Club

Since I’m Globalist I had access to the Regency Club for breakfast and evening canapes. The space is bright and on the first floor just behind check in. I didn’t really find much to eat that suited my diet, but I did grab some juices, water, coffee, and a couple rice krispy treats.

Other Dining Option: Sugar Factory

I’d never been to a Sugar Factory so I decided to try it out.

I had a turkey burger and fries. Perfect for what I was wanting at the time and the restaurant was completely empty.

Overall

This biggest downside is the location. If you’re going to shuttle from the A train then this could save some money, but add on quite a bit of time. Otherwise, you should factor in $30 to $40 roundtrip Uber fares on top of your hotel rate. Personally, I really liked the hotel, but I’m not so sure I’d choose to stay here over the TWA Hotel if I were purely wanting a night to position for a flight, etc. If you’re a gambler, that’s a different story since the hotel is right attached to the casino. The biggest positive is the price in points…just 12k points. A great hotel at that rate and certainly would save some cash compared to the TWA hotel attached to the airport.

My wife and I stayed there in May before flying Singapore the next day. We loved the hotel. The regular rooms are quite nice, the club lounge serves astonishingly high quality food in the evening, and the price is quite agreeable. The location could be better but have you checked reviews and prices for JFK hotels?

You can also take the A train to the second Aqueduct stop and walk through an enclosed bridge to the casino and hotel – 5 minute walk indoors

For the way back you can take the shuttle, or just walk 10 minutes across the parking lot to the Conduit-Aqueduct stop

Nice to finally have a clean Kennedy airport hotel
