The Kimpton Everly is about as Hollywood as you could get. Just off the 101, overlooking the Hollywood Hills, and walking distance pretty everything you’d wanna do in Hollywood ( the walk of fame, Chinese theater, etc ). You’re paying for this location, and personally, I’m not a big fan of Hollywood unless you’re specifically there to see the sites. It’s dirty, sketch, and this coming from someone who lived in Hollywood for several years. While the Kimpton has a beautiful lobby, and the rooms have great views, I didn’t really feel safe around the hotel itself. It’s right near an overpass and there was a large homeless encampment there. We didn’t have any issues, and Hollywood has long suffered from this problem, but just a heads up from someone who lived in the area and felt this way.

If you’re in your 20s and looking for a cool hotel in the thick of Hollywood – I’d definitely put this on the list to consider, just be on alert.

Every Kimpton has a happy hour – this one is next to the front desk.

Location

As I mentioned, you’re smack on the eastern side of Hollywood, just off the Argyle. Roughly a 10-15 min walk to the walk of fame.

Check In

Visually the hotel is impressive with high ceilings, wood floors, and concrete slab elevators. It’s a very cool lobby, and this is the reason you’d opt to stay here. It’s definitely a place to hang out if the Hollywood area is your go-to spot.a building with a glass railingHere is a further look into the main lobby area. It’s a large impressive space broken into little sections for hanging out.

We had a small, basic room. Really nothing to write home about other than a view that overlooked the 101, and admittedly, they did a good job on noise. We really didn’t hear much outside.

a city with many cars and buildings

Empty fridge, Tv, and water that wasn’t free.

Bathroom

Why? Why do they do this? These showers never hold the water in, yet so many hotels still do these half glass doors.

a bathroom with a mirror and sinkGym

This was a pretty dope gym for the size allotted. Lots of new equipment, peloton, etc.

Small pool that overlooks Hollywood – really reminds me of the pool atop the Andaz Sunset Strip.

On the lower level you’ll find the restaurant where breakfast is served. This was included because of my diamond status.

a view from above of a restaurantCool vibe and the food was just ok. LA has amazing food, and if this wasn’t in the hotel, it wouldn’t last. High prices for just average food.

Overall

Would I stay here again? Ugh. I dunno. I’m not looking to stay in this area in the very least, so probably not.  This has nothing to do with the hotel itself, just the area. If you’re looking for a spot in Hollywood, I’d just be careful walking around late at night as you would any other big city, but particularly becuase this is so close to the 101 overpass and there aren’t that many things right next to the hotel vs the Thompson Hollywood, the Roosevelt, or the W. Those are all on Hollywood BLVD literally looking down on the famous stuff.

I love the trekking poles. I guess people can use them to trek over to the Walk Of Fame.

What does the 9 bucks “protect” the hotel workers from? I would have asked. Before, I didn’t try too hard to avoid these places that pull this….now I do.
