New York City is crazy expensive, so when you see a deal, you gotta strike. And strike we did. We saw 4 nights for 129k points, that included our 4th night free, which equates to roughly 32k points per night. IHG routinely sells their points at 1/2 a penny a point, meaning this 4 night stay was roughly $650. That is just incredible. We were in town to see a friend perform in a play, and the location suited it perfectly.

I mean look at these average rates…and that doesn’t include the 4 night free since I’m not logged in

Location:

Not too far from Times Square, not too far from Central Park, Radio City Music Hall. Close to a bunch of Subway stops. Pretty decent location for sightseeing.

Check In

Short. Sweet. No big upgrade. The hotel is quite small actually with a modest sized lobby that is divided into separate spaces to hang, work, have the famous Kimpton happy hour with wine and snacks.

a room with a couch and chairsThe hotel has a small sundry which you can grab your free waters from, or if you’re in a pinch a drink/snack of some sort.

There is also a small coffee stand, that you they sometimes have grab n go breakfast specials for $1

Roughly 300-350 sq feet. Fine for NYC and, my goodness, the rate is hard to beat so I’m not complaining for a smaller room. When in NYC…how long do you really spend in the hotel?

It was nice to have a separate seating area, and of course the hotel is pet friendly, as are all Kimptons.

Cabinet with robe, extra pillow, and a drawer with the safe – which is sitting on a shelf. Ummm couldn’t that just be removed?

Bathroom – even for NYC this was VERY TIGHT. You could barely get in the bathroom, close the door, and hop in the shower.

Super small with a few free weights and treadmills – get out in the city for goodness sakes lol

This is a inexpensive way to access some of the most touristed areas of NYC,  stay in a nice hotel, and if you’re getting that 4th night free, it makes this even more attractive.  I’d put this hotel on your list if the rates are coming in competitive, and if you still earn the sub 40k night that comes with the IHG Select where you can’t add any points to it… you’ll even see them price under 40k. That’s incredible for a NYC hotel…and a Kimpton at that.

The secret is out! I’ve stayed at this hotel past few years and it is a bargain for the 40k FNC. It’s the only reason I still keep that card and have not decided to upgrade or change it. $49 for a stay in midtown in a newly renovated hotel is the best deal you will see when staying in NY. I’m a globalist but hard to turn down this deal. The subway from JFK comes pretty much to the front door. I was just there a few months there and it still has the new hotel smell. I love it.
