TripAdvisor recently published a top ten list of best airlines in the world, as voted by their readers. Number 1 was Singapore Airlines. Having flown them last year in First Class and Suites, it is an incredible experience, and from the looks of their new Suites – the bar has been raised again.  TripAdvisor published several lists, but the two that I find most interesting are the Overall Top 10 Best, and then best in “Class of Service.”  Singapore Airlines took the crown in both of these two lists.

Overall Top Ten Best Airlines in the World

  1. Singapore Airlines

  2. Air New Zealand

  3. Emirates

  4. Japan Airlines

  5. EVA

  6. Southwest

  7. Jet2

  8. Qatar

  9. Azul

  10. Korean Airlines

Which of these have you flown? And would you replace any of the Top Ten?

Jet2?? Azul?? as top airlines????? WTF!!! It was/is THE most eff up list. JL, NH, CX, SQ, GA, LH, KE, QF, NZ, OZ.

Jet2? Really? What, Deathstar, I mean Jetstar didn’t make the cut? I like many of the airlines listed, but I’d love to see exactly how these rankings were determined. Sure, Singapore has a really nice First Class, but better than Cathay? Maybe, except Cathay isn’t anywhere on the list. Of course, no European airline makes the list either. this tells me that this list is comprised of highly skewed choices.

Jet2? Korean Air? Azul? WTF. Were the voters hazed out on shrooms at 300,000 Nirvana feet when they flew these carriers? Stunning. But it’s Trip Advisor where voters would put Motel 6 in the top hotels. I’ve flown 5 of the 10. I certainly would not include Southwest. I wouldn’t even include EVA – which I flew J very long haul TPE-BKK-LHR. It was good, but not a top 10 IMHO.
