A quick heads up on a post I wrote roughly a week ago where I intimated I had matched to ANA Platinum from IHG. I had gotten overly excited when I saw the announcement and mistakenly assumed a couple of things about the targeted offer. One, that you needed IHG status to try and match, and second that when I got notice I had matched, it was certain. In fact, you don’t need IHG status to try and match, and second, while I did get notice that I had matched, so did everyone else, and it isn’t certain. I should have crossed my “t”s and dotted my “i”s, but alas, I didn’t. More than likely, by sheer volume, this deal won’t go through, but we can keep our fingers crossed. My apologies if there was any confusion, and worse yet, if anyone felt deceived by the post. The original post has been amended, and honestly I still think it’s worth a shot if by some miracle it goes through.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
