Starting July 1st, specific Marriott and United elites have the opportunity to earn bonus points when staying at Marriott or flying United. You need to register and it runs from July 1st until August 31st, 2024. If you didn’t know, Marriott and United have a preferred partnership and offer some reciprocal benefits – you can learn more here.

I’d guess that this deal, and much of the better Marriott/United benefits are geared for Titanium and higher because you can get Platinum from the Marriott Brilliant card, and thus, less desirable for United.

  • Qualifying Marriott Bonvoy members can sign up for the Preferred Partnership Program here and qualifying United MileagePlus members can sign up for the Preferred Partnership Program here.

The deal:

  • Register here:
  • Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and Ambassador Elite status
    • 750 bonus points will be awarded for eligible United flights
  • United MileagePlus Premier Gold, Platinum, and 1K members
    • 500 bonus miles will be awarded on stays at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy
  • After registering, eligible stays and flights booked before July 1, 2024, and that fall within the promotional period will also count toward bonus points and miles.
  • There is no limit on the number of eligible stays and flights if members comply with the terms and conditions of the promotion.
  • Marriott Bonvoy members who select miles as their earning preference are not eligible for this promotion and will not receive the bonus.
  • Flights booked with miles or “money and miles” are not eligible for this promotion.
  • Stays booked with points or “money and points” are not eligible for this promotion.

My thoughts

No brainer if you have an eligible status

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.
