If you carry an Amex Platinum card then you should be receiving your $15 a month Uber credit ( $35 in December). I just got back from a trip through Australia and Hong Kong, and never saw my Uber credit pop up. Why? I had completely forgotten that the credit only applies to rides taken in the U.S. Blame it on the jetlag, or just being Uber forgetful 😉 – but I just plain forgot.  I had actually exhausted my April credit prior to leaving, and thought our Uber to the Hong Kong airport would have been partially refunded, but it wasn’t. Then it dawned on me…it only applies to U.S. rides.

I still have $45 to use by the end of May…which will be handy!

Both of my parents carry Amex Platinum cards, but neither have any use for their Uber credits. Since I use Uber all the time, I linked their card to my account and apply the credit there.

Prior to getting my Amex card I had never bothered to use Uber, but figured what the heck, why let the credit go to waste. After a recent trip I took Uber home from the airport. Easypeasy I thought, this is great! 3 night later I was awoken by a series of text alerts coming in on my phone. My uber account was being charged simultaneously for rides in West Virginia, Dallas, and San Francisco. All included $100 tips. I quickly changed my password and eliminated the card from the payment options, and called Amex. They were great about reversing the charges, blocking Uber and issuing a new card. Shame though that I will now not be able to take advantage of that credit!

Thanks for the reminder that these are only valid for US rides. I don’t take Uber regularly, so there have been a couple of months where I have let the $15 credit expire. I wish they would have rollover credits, or just an annual lump sum we can use up.

In prior months you may have to contact uber – current month just go to payment and scroll to the bottom – it’ll show you
