Amex Offers: Spend $250 at IHG get $50 back
American Express just dropped a fantastic new offer targeting IHG brands on the lower end of their spectrum ( full details below ). If you spend $250 between now and 12/31/24 you’ll get $50 back as a statement credit. There are some restrictions such as US based Amex cards, no gift cards, no point purchases, and there are some exclusions which I’ve listed below.
Amex Offers is a great way to offset annual fees and part of the reason I can end up extracting more money out of the 10 Amex cards I keep in my wallet than the fees I pay. It’s worth noting that you don’t need an Amex that has an annual fee to get Amex Offers, but I do find I am targeted for different offers on different cards. Let’s take a look at this Amex Offers for IHG.
Check out our Intercontinental Barclay review

An interesting play stacking with Ambassador
Intercontinental Ambassador gets a Buy One Get One free weekend night as long as you pay with an Amex. This could be a great way to get an additional $50 back if you’re an Intercontinental Ambassador member
In the example below, which is a suite at the Intercontinental Chicago for 2 nights, half of the $720 would get removed from the bill because of the BOGO. That would give us a $360 charge on our amex triggering the $50 back. $310 for two nights in a suite in downtown Chicago ( albeit winter ) is pretty awesome if you ask me.
If you’re unfamiliar with Amex Offers you can read our full breakdown here.
Here are the 11 American Express Cards that I keep and links to their current offers and why we have them in our wallet and recommend your consideration.
- American Express Platinum
- American Express Gold
- American Express Green ( I no longer have this card, but drop your referrals
- 3 American Express Business Platinum
- 3 American Express Business Gold
- 2 American Express Blue Business Plus
Our favorite hotel in West Hollywood, CA – The Kimpton La Peer ( Tho Kimpton isn’t on the list of included brands this go around )
Overall
It’s nice to see IHG getting some Amex Offers since their credit cards are with Chase, and getting an effective 20% off stays ( $50 back on $250 spend ) at more economically affordable brands is nice too especially if you’re doing a road trip. ( the last time it was only on Intercontinental and Kimpton ).
