According to a post on Reddit, Citi Prestige has tightened up their policy when it comes to trip delay compensation. Apparently, people, who miss connections due to delay, have been getting their claims denied unless their first flight was delayed more than three hours. Additionally, travel claims were only being honored if it was part of a roundtrip itinerary.

Citi has consistently devalued the Prestige benefits amidst the war of premium cards. While the benefits have been eroded I still find plenty of value in paying the fee and keeping the card…for now. The main reason that I carry the card is the 4th night free benefit, and my grandfathered Citi Gold status which drops my fee to $350 ( effectively just $100 after the $250 airline fee credit).

When it comes to making travel reservations, I typically stick them on my Reserve or Biz Preferred.

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

Will we still be covered for all other reasons if there is a delay greater than 3 hours? Also, where does it say anything about it having to be a round trip? What if two one-ways are booked on separate itineraries with prestige?

Huge devaluation. This should be covered.

i have heard something similar from a supervisor at Virginia Surety, which is the processor/adjuster for Citi prestige.

this is quite disappointing as a missed connection should definitely be a covered event. the benefit of the card should be to take care of the cardholder from start to destination.

    definitely a devaluation.

I was Citigold for a promo, cancelled years ago, but maintain the $350 fee. Still very difficult to justify paying the Prestige AF straight up given the general miasma of other cards out there with overlapping benefits.

Wow, DJ is fired up. And not exactly correct either. If weather causes a missed connection, the airline is going to eventually get you to your destination but not compensate/take care of you. If that takes 24 hours you will incur significant expenses.

You’re full of s*. It’s NOT a devaluation. STOP smearing and spreading false info. Miss conx is not a delay. IF there is a miss conx THEN it’s the airlines responsibilities to get you to your final destination and compensates you and takes care of you. You can NOT double dips.
