All the banks offering a transfer bonus to partner programs

If you’re looking to book a future trip, the very best time to transfer points is when you can take advantage of a transfer bonus. We keep an ongoing list of bank transfer bonuses, so go ahead and bookmark this page as it will update as the transfer bonuses continue to change. Please drop comments if you see new offers that I’ve missed!

A few things to take into consideration before you transfer any points

  1. Transferring points from a bank to a partner is one way – you can’t undo the transfer
    • It’s a best practice to only transfer points when you have a booking you want to make
  2. Often transfer bonuses can be targeted, so if you see one down below, you may/may not be targeted
  3. Not all partners are created equal so make sure you’re getting good value
    • As an example
      • 70k Aeroplan miles is enough for a business class ticket from US to Europe
      • 70k Marriott points was enough for a single night at the Westin Hilton Head
  4. Always check the bank’s portal prior to transferring to make sure it isn’t cheaper there vs transferring

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex℠and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

The Gold card is currently offering a 60,000 sign up bonus after $6,000 spent in 6 months.

I find the gold card to be most useful for food purchases, earning 4x points at restaurants and grocery stores. You can recover almost all of the annual fee for the gold card $240 of the $250 if you take advantage of the monthly credits from food delivery and Uber. I like to accumulate additional Amex points by using shopping portals like Rakuten.

    Capital One Venture X: https://i.capitalone.com/JF1KWxosX

75,000 bonus miles after $4,000 spend in three months. I used this card recently to book airline tickets and ended up getting around 15-20% back as travel credits because the flight price dropped after booking. I like this card for the 2X points minimum on purchases, so I like to use this one when my other cards will only give me 1X points. I use it when I can’t get better point amounts on my other cards. It’s a great one to have, especially if traveling abroad since it can be challenging at times to find businesses to accept Amex at times.

  • […] We are seeing the trend of transfer bonuses continue this year.  Chase has dropped a, limited time, 30% transfer bonus when you transfer Ultimate Rewards into British Airways, Iberia, or Aer Lingus.  These are all members of the Avios program and those points can be merged ( same goes for Qatar Airways ). This is on the heels of a 50%  Marriott transfer bonus currently. All of these are highlighted on our transfer bonus page. […]

Can someone point me to the direction of how to transfer delta miles to air france

    • Miles February 16, 2023

Hey Catherine – you can redeem Delta Skymiles on Air France but you can’t transfer them over to Air France/KLM – whatever Delta says the flights cost, you’re unfortunately bound by their program’s pricing. If you are currently using a Delta Amex I’d suggest looking at an Amex Green, Gold, or Platinum which earns Membership Rewards that can be transferred to Delta but also partners like Air France/KLM

      • Catherine February 16, 2023

Thanks for the response! Please be patient with me, I’m completely new at this but what do you mean I can redeem it?

  • Lisa February 11, 2023

Please consider including some Canadian content. I live in Canada so many of these deals don’t work for us as the flights originate in the USA. Also Air Canada, our National carrier spoiled their program. Now costs 400,000 round trip to most European cities for 1 ticket. Used to be less than half that so we need better options. Hate getting ripped off. Also I think the TD Visa is a good one but still only builds aeroplan points! I have Amex platinum not sure we should keep it. Guidance would be appreciated! thanks.

  • Todd January 5, 2023

    Hey dude.
I follow on TikToc and love your content. Can you do an article on the best way to accrue points to fly Down Under to Sydney, Melbourne, etc. What alliance is best? What cards transfer points to United or Quantas, etc. This would be really interesting because I think most Americans balk at the higher flight and lodging costs. Remember, there are only 250 reptiles, insects and plants that can kill you in Oz!
