Complete Guide Chase Refer a Friend Guide –

Chase has an extremely attractive program for referrals aptly named Chase Refer a Friend. Since we’re all friends here, I thought I’d lay down some buddy talk and explain how the program works. The Chase Refer a Friend program is incredibly lucrative, offering the potential to earn up to 100k bonus points per card, per year just for referring others to the card you keep. It’s a program I do my best to max out every single year, so I can keep flying in great cabins and staying a wonderful hotels.

The Various Methods of populating referrals

In total, there are 3 ways to generate links from a catch all to individual card microsites we go through them in detail below. We walk through referrals in the video below and explain how you can use my site, and others, to help generate bonus points for your travel pursuits.

The General Chase Refer a Friend Landing page ( Go here )

This is a new addition and is a pretty awesome to get all of your chase refer a friend links in a single spot after you’ve logged in. There is a drop down menu that lists all of your cards ( although it shows canceled cards too ) and then an easy copy and paste feature for the refer a friend link associated with that card. Note that this link doesn’t tell you what the refer a friend offer is, but rather just a simplified way of populating a link.

Cards we currently have refer a friend links to:

2) The Chase Refer a Friend ( Catch All )

This is a great function that Chase has put it place, and it works for most cards. However, it doesn’t work for all cards. Go here first, and if for some reason your card isn’t populating a link…try the next function.

The easiest way to refer: shoot your friend a link, or post it online

Once you enter in the Information it will populate a referral link…like this one for my Chase Sapphire Preferred – it would earn me 15k bonus points and populate a referral offer for you. You can leave this link in the comments section here, or shoot it to your friend, post it on twitter, facebook, etc. Even throw it in you instagram profile link.

The longer way is to send someone an email.

This used to be the only way links would work, and takes a while for your friend to receive it.

3) Another source of Chase Refer A Friend links: Go here

Chase has another site that you can create referrals from and it lists “most” cards that are eligible. Notice that 9 cards are listed; however, many cards still have referrals available, but they’re only populating through the cards microsite. This is great if, for some reason, your card doesn’t populate a referral on the catch all up above, you can go here and locate your card. It’s also a good source to see if new cards are populating referrals.

However…it doesn’t actually list all of the cards with referral offers.

Another way to earn referrals is via Chase Family referrals. This concept is that each grouping of cards within a family can refer to other cards within that family.

5) Individual Chase refer a friend microsites

If you have one of these cards, you can utilize the Chase microsite to populate a referral. There are a couple of ways to do this:

  1. www.chase.com/referafriend/( card name )
  2. www.chase.com/referabusiness/(card name )

You may need to play around with the card names to get them to work…some include Chase, some do not.

Things to keep in mind

Chase has started to send out 1099s for referral points. This means that if you are sent a 1099 you should contact a tax professional because you may be responsible for paying taxes on the points you received because of a referral. Last time I checked Chase was putting a 1 cent

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex℠and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.
