Today was like most mornings: I make my coffee, fire up the laptop, and check my Amex Offers. Amex must be reading my mind because I’ve been heavily considering picking up an Amex Blue Business Plus which earns 2x everything up to $50k in business spend. I’d recently written a post about referrals giving a 10k welcome offer after $3k spend, and in that post I’d reference an all-time high welcome offer of 20k after $5k.
As luck would have it, my account was targeted for the all time high bonus. Today was the first I’ve ever had the offer sitting in my Amex Offers and it was a good reminder of how the little things can be so enjoyable 😉
Ironically it was part of my Amex Blue Business which I’d picked up a couple years ago when it was offering 10x points on dining.
To make things clear, this wasn’t for an upgrade, but rather to sign up for a new card all together.
Does this count against your 5/24?
Amex does not report business cards on your personal return, so this will not add to your 5/24 number
You may be a small business and not know it.
Do you tutor as a side gig? Buy and Sell on Ebay for profit? Perhaps you consult to subsidize your income. Blog, Vlog, or get paid to walk the dog? All of these things, and similar activities, may actually qualify you to be a sole proprietor and thus…a small business. Why not have a card that segregates all those expenses and make your life easier come tax time.
I highly advise checking your Amex Offers at least weekly. I’m always amazed how how I can extract value from these offers that help offset. If you’re interested in this card, check your Amex Offers. If you weren’t targeted, or you’d rather a lower minimum spend here’s a 10k referral after $3k spend… click this link for the referral
