The Business Platinum Card® from American Express

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express card comes with a bevy of benefits, and if your business pushes through some hefty spend, or has large expenses on the horizon it could be worth considering for your business.  Personally, I’ve carried a Biz Plat for a few years now, and continue to extract great value.

Each and every year I spend time analyzing my credit card portfolio to see if the benefits outweigh cost to carry. I chose again in 2021 to not only keep the The Business Platinum Card® from American Express in my wallet, but take advantage of 2 targeted offers to increase my wallet size to 3 Amex Biz Plats.

If you’re looking for loads of benefits WHEN you travel, that comes with an extensive list of statement credits and benefits like lounge access, hotel elite status, and 35% back ( up to 1 million ) when you redeem points on your select airline this card is worth a close look.

Welcome Offer

Earn 200,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $20,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership

The annual fee on the American Business Platinum Card® is very steep so you want to make sure you take a look at the benefits/credits and confirm you’ll use them every year.

I’ve found that I earn more points from the American Express® Business Gold , but I’m able to take advantage of  a lot of statement credits, lounge access, and 35% points back on your select airline travel booked via the Amex Travel Portal. The new hotel credits, Hilton credits, and incidental airline credit outweigh the fee for me, but this will be a card that I’ll have to keep an eye on since the fee is so high.

Up to $600 Hotel Credit

This is a super easy way to offset the annual fee and get treated like a VIP when you’re staying at FHR and THC properties. Better yet…you can use this credit on a single night stay with Fine Hotels + Resorts meaning you could treat yourself to a nice little staycation.

  • UP to $600 in statement credits per calendar year on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection bookings through American Express Travel using the Business Platinum Card®.
  • The Hotel Collection requires a minimum two-night stay.

Big things to consider

  • The credit requires pre-booking
  • It’s $300 semi annually
  • You can make a booking in June for a stay in December and it’ll trigger the Jan to June credit.

$200 Annual Hilton Statement Credit (enrollment required )

  • Hilton For Business members get up to $200 back per calendar year when you make an eligible purchase at Hilton properties across the globe.
  • Benefit enrollment required.

This credit is $50 every quarter. This is for on property purchases or booked via Hilton. So… if you booked a Hilton property with FHR, the initial booking wouldn’t trigger the credit; however, the charges while on property would trigger the credit.

Don’t forget about the ability to refer friends to almost any Amex.

American Express changed their program last year and created an absolutely fantastic perk: the ability to refer a friend to almost any card that Amex issues. This means that you can earn bonus Amex points by referring friends not only to this Amex Biz Plat, but to most any other Amex, up to 55k bonus points per year. It’s a great way to earn even more value out of the card.

If you have an Amex and would like to leave a referral go to this post and add yours.
