We keep a bunch of Amex referral pages to spread the referral love – they’re linked below. But…keep an eye out for a specific referral that earns and additional 4x on purchases. If you have an Amex Gold you’d normally earn 4x at restaurants and US supermarkets, now you’ll earn 8x. It maxes out at $25k so you have the opportunity to earn an extra 100k Membership Rewards.

This offer runs until the 12/1/21 and it lasts for 3 months after the first referral. Meaning, the bonus 4 points would run into next year, and if you file your taxes early, and you owe something, you could easily recoup the processing fee and earn some great bonus points on your purchase.

I put the valuation of Amex points somewhere between 1.5 and 2 cents a piece. You’d be earning 4 of them so if you owed $25k, you could earn 125k points worth $1800 to $2500 and pay just $500 in processing fees. Something to consider if you find yourself in that position. If you had an Amex Business Platinum, you’d earn 137,500 points ( 50% bonus on purchases over $5k ) and a Blue Business Plus ( with its flat 2x on all spend ) 150k points.

Here’s how it works with our site and referrals:

You’re welcome to leave referrals here, but you’d be much better off going to the linked pages that get a lot of traffic and rank on Google.

Referrals are how I make upwards of 500k points a year, but it’s also how I can help you out. Since I’m constantly trying to use points on my travel for the site, I cycle through my referrals first, then I work my friends and family through the site, and finally, I start adding your links into the body of the posts that you leave in the comments section. I leave them up for a few weeks and then cycle in another one.

*I would note that you get more action when the referral is correlated to the article.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

The “Resy” AMEX Platinum 125k SUB offer stacks with this +4X Referral so the 15X for Dining and Small Business becomes 19X (verified).

The 19X Dining & Small Business with the $25k max spend added to the 125k SUB is 600,000 MRs !

The AMEX +4X is good for 3 months (vs. Resy 15X for 6 months).
